Traveling across Oregon, Road trip

Traveling across Oregon, Road trip

… We were contacted by the Oregon State Tourist Office two years ago, for several months, we were already thinking about the best way to promote this destination that we hardly knew existed until we became interested in it. We often hear about his neighbour “California” but very rarely about Oregon.
This project was coordinated and created with all the members of Mountains Legacy Production, from the itinerary to the post production of the content, we create a global campaign for our client Oregon Tourism Office.nThe whole shooting team spent three weeks travelling the state in a van, we travelled  5,000 kilometers and up to 7 hours a day, we can tell you that Oregon is just amazing!
We wanted to make this production a little different from the ones we used to show. The idea was to introduce Oregon through the eyes of travelling people, we wanted to capture the “mood” of the state, the inhabitants, from outdoor exploration, to meeting a farmer, to visiting the corners of the street culture of Portland.
We created a series of videos capsules that embodies all the aspects of this state: outdoors, sports, culture. We also conduct a global digital operation of the social media to spread the pictures, tell our story during the trip we undertook and give an insight of what is travelling oregon on a day to day basis. We post pictures and stories everyday during 3 weeks to engage  our community on instagram @mountainslegacy @cedric_manoukian @Jordan_manoukian

We took off from Paris with the airline Icelandair, the flight is not direct, we stopped 2 days to visit Iceland it is a good deal to make 2 destinations in one trip. Arrived in Portland, it only takes an hour by car to connect the coast, so we started our road trip through the wildest parts of the country

Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast is my favourite part of the trip, from ‘Astoria’, the northernmost city, to the National Park of ‘Natural Arch’ further south, with just over 500 kilometres of road along the coast.  The air is fresh, and we have the impression of having already changed country, on the first 100 kilometers we can already see “Sealions” on the huge beaches below the road.

When you walk through such landscapes, you only want to park the car and go for a run or walk along the Oregon Coast Trail”One of the most beautiful trails to visit, it follows the Oregon coast at the beginning of the Columbia River to the California border south of Brookings.

… after almost 200 kilometers in the day from Astoria, we finally arrive at our destination where we will spend the night: Pacific City, a well isolated community of 2000 inhabitants…  In front of us stands a huge sand dune under the evening lights, hundreds of fires are lit on the beach that can been seen miles away, an incredible sight that remains for me, one of my most beautiful nights in Oregon around the campfire, more commonly called “Bound Fire”.

Going south as the country passes through the windows of our van, we make our way further and further down the same road (US 101) towards Samuel H boardman State Park.
