Breaking FKT Vinson – White Horizon
Last December, Mountains legacy mounted and organized the Vinson FKT expedition to Antarctica. A commission from Redbull and The North Face to attempt to break the ascent of the highest peak on the Pole, one of the 7 summits. Filmmaker Jordan Manoukian shot the photos and video footage of the record for a forthcoming feature-length documentary on Fernanda Maciel. Brazilian ultra-runner Fernanda Maciel has broken two world records on Mount Vinson, Antarctica.
While most of the world was celebrating Christmas with a nice dinner, ultra-runner Fernanda Maciel decided to carry her bag through the icy expanses of Antarctica. In less than 10 hours, the Brazilian accomplished the feat of ascending and descending this little-known mountain. Her ascent of the summit in 6 hours 40 minutes and her total time (9 hours 41 minutes) officially set a world record…
